Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) – The Cabinet, in a session chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, approved an amended bylaw for fees and service charges of Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) for the year 2025.

The regulation aims to empower Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) to fulfill its duties and responsibilities by lowering the ASE-collected trading fee and the annual license renewal fee, which would "positively" impact its share of trading revenues and contribute to serving interests of capital market institutions.

Approved amid a "significant" improvement in the ASE's performance, the market recorded its "highest levels in the past two months for the first time in over 15 years, with the index surpassing the 3,000-point mark for the first time since 2008." The Cabinet also approved the rationale for the draft bylaw for media spokespeople in ministries, institutions, and government departments for the year 2025.

This step will pave the way for submitting the bylaw to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete the necessary procedures for its issuance, which will be then published on the Bureau's website to solicit public feedback.

The bylaw represents a "qualitative" addition to efforts to modernize the government communication system, in line with the comprehensive political, economic, and administrative modernization vision.

The regulation aims to establish a legislative framework to regulate work of media spokespeople, which represents a "crucial" step to modernize and develop their roles, powers, and responsibilities, as well as unifying and defining communication and follow-up mechanisms and enhancing coordination among ministries and institutions.

Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed the mandating reasons for the draft amendment to the Ministry of Health's Administrative Structure Bylaw for 2025, prior to its submission to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for formal approval.

This bylaw aligns with the Ministry of Health's ongoing legislative procedures for the Medical Committees Bylaw for 2025.

On its goals, the bylaw aims to establish a Directorate for Medical Committees, which will emerge in the Ministry's administrative structure to ensure fulfillment of operational requirements and the public interest.

The proposed amendments will also define responsibilities of the director of the newly established directorate and its staff to guarantee the "efficient" execution of technical and administrative tasks.

In another move, the Cabinet decided to turn Director General of Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), Abeer Barakat Zuhair, into pension.
